Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are used to improve the overall appearance of the skin by improving skin texture, reducing acne scars, liver spots, age spots, freckles and other blemishes. A chemical solution is placed on the surface of the skin causing a mild reaction which peels away the top skin layer.

The new skin underneath has fewer wrinkles, is smoother, and frequently has better color and tone.

Laser treatments also enhance the overall appearance of the skin. Some individuals may also choose to add Botox^® or Juvéderm^™ injections to complete their treatment.

Chemical peels are very popular and are available in differing strengths. Patients may choose between a 30% or 70% acid to be used in their peel and the stronger the acid the more powerful the chemical peel will be. Deep chemical peels typically have the best results long term.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is sometimes referred to as Microderm. This procedure uses light abrasion to remove the outermost surface of the skin, which helps lighten the appearance of scars, sun damaged skin, dark spots and acne.

The procedure does not require any anesthetic because it is not painful. The skin is basically “polished” through microdermabrasion to reveal brighter skin underneath.

Benefits

There are several benefits individuals should anticipate from microdermabrasion. When the healing process is complete the skin will feel smoother and look younger as a result of the new skin cells. During the renewal process visible imperfections on the skin, including fine lines, sun damage, and even blemishes, may be removed.

Candidates

Those with clogged pores are excellent candidates for microdermabrasion. Also, those who find Retin-A too harsh will benefit from microdermabrasion treatment. Some individuals that will not benefit include those with fragile capillaries, widespread acne, active oral herpes, active rosacea, vascular lesions, lupus, as well as others.
