LaserMD clients experience the type of results that can only be achieved under the supervision of board-certified physicians. Board certification demands 12 years of medical training, rigorous examinations and ongoing professional education.

Each and every medical procedure at LaserMD is performed by trained medical professionals. Even our esthetician services are supervised by medical staff. This allows us to provide a range of esthetic services that aren’t available in traditional beauty spas. All services are provided in LaserMD’s purpose-built facility. The inviting environment provides comfort and relaxation without compromising clinical standards.

Our emphasis is on results you can see immediately, achieved through medical techniques that are highly effective, yet minimally invasive. For the patient this means instant improvements without the need for downtime.  Our procedures are fast and simple. The results, on the other hand, are usually long and life changing.

Meet the Staff

Amy King, MD

Dr. Amy King is a board certified gynecologist and certified laser and esthetic medicine practitioner. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery. Her specialties include Juvederm ® and Botox ®—procedures she loves for their ability to dramatically rejuvenate a patient’s appearance almost instantly. “I think of it as a ten minute tune-up,” explains Dr. King. “A patient can walk in for treatment, lie down, and leave only minutes later looking and feeling fantastic.”

For Dr. King, the most rewarding part of her practice is seeing how improvements in appearance transform lives. “We had a patient who had lost a lot of weight, but she had some stubborn areas that wouldn’t budge. After one Smartlipo ™ treatment she literally started crying with happiness. She said she’d never felt so good. She couldn’t remember the last time she felt so confident.”

Dr. King grew up in the Midwest and worked in Chicago and Denver before choosing the warmer climates of Myrtle Beach in 2001. She graduated from the University of Illinois, Rush Medical University, and the University of Colorado’s residency in obstetrics and gynecology. She shares a bustling home with her husband, three boys and two exuberant Labradors.

Christine Roberts, MD

Dr. Christine Roberts also combines the specialties of gynecology and esthetic medicine. She is board-certified and a member of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery. She is extensively trained in advanced laser techniques.

Dr. Roberts also says her greatest satisfaction comes from observing how cosmetic changes improve self-esteem. “What I love most about my work,” she comments, “is when people come back and say ‘you don’t know how much this changed my life’.”

To ensure that patients achieve the safest and most effective results, LaserMD physicians engage in ongoing training in the latest cosmetic procedures. “We’re continuously learning about new ideas and techniques,” says Dr. Roberts. “We regularly undertake advanced training and visit with other physicians.” This also allows LaserMD to guarantee that every appointment is overseen by an expertly trained physician.

Dr. Roberts graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her residency at Georgetown University. She and her husband moved to Myrtle Beach in 1998 where they enjoy their coastal home with their two sons and two rescue cats. The family shares a love of travel and the outdoors, and in her spare time Dr. Roberts enjoys cycling and reading.

   Tara Maglio, Exercise & Nutrition Consultant 

Tara is a recent graduate from Coastal Carolina University. Tara pursued studies in Health Promotion encompassing all aspects of health while focusing on Nutrition and Exercise. As LaserMD's Exercise and Nutrition Consultant Tara specializes in personalized nutrition and exercise counseling.

Tara works with all types of individuals each with their own set of goals for optimal health.  In addition to Tara's counseling, she also offers Velashape II, a non-invasive body sculpting procedure.

The Velashape II is the only FDA proven device for cellulite and circumferential reduction. The Velashape II gives clients the ability to target problem areas that are difficult to target through diet and exercise.

Lindsay Hickman, RN

It is our great pleasure to introduce a new member to the LaserMD staff, Lindsay Hickman. Lindsay is a Registered Nurse and will now be performing all laser services at LaserMD.

Lindsay completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at MUSC. Lindsay also comes to us with seven years of experience in the Emergency Room at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.  Schedule your appointment and meet our amazing new nurse.

Lindsay, her husband and one-year old daughter reside in Myrtle Beach.

Jersey Helsel, Licensed Esthetician

Jersey Helsel is a highly motivated Licensed Esthetician specializing in skin rejuvenation.

Jersey attended the College of Charleston and earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She then worked for four years at a Plastic Surgery office in Charleston and developed a passion for skin care. From this experience Jersey decided to extended her studies to Trident Technical College where she received her Esthetics License.

Jersey is also certified in the following skin care lines: PCA, Jane Iredale, and Obagi.
