How VelaShape II Works

VelaShape is the first FDA-approved non-invasive medical device for circumferential fat reduction and cellulite reduction. This procedure combines heat in the form of radiofrequency and infrared light with a vacuum and specially designed rollers. The infrared light targets more superficially and is increased for cellulite reduction treatments, heating the tissue down to the dermis, up to about 5mm in depth. Higher levels of radiofrequency are used for cirumferential reduction, heating the tissue down to the subcutis layer from 2-20mm in depth. Working simultaneously with the heat, a vacuum and specially designed rollers manipulate and smooth out the skin enabling precise targeting of energy to the tissue, safely and efficiently. This procedure increases the metabolism of stored energy in the body, increases lymphatic drainage and reduces the size of the actual fat chamber.

VelaShape II Patient Selection

The most important ingredient to achieve success with VelaShape treatments is choosing the ideal candidate. This ensures realistic expectations as to the range of improvement a patient can expect to see. Patient selection for circumferential reduction is based on body mass index and cellulite reduction is based on the patient's body mass index, the degree of cellulite a patient has and choice of lifestyle.

Patients should have realistic expectations:

• There will be improvement in cellulite appearance, but not complete elimination. Patients will see reduction in circumference, responses are individual.

• The degree of response to VelaShape treatments and the number of treatment sessions required will vary among patients depending on the clinical & physiological condition of the start of treatment. Some patients respond more quickly than others or to a greater degree.

• VelaShape results are temporary and maintenance treatments are essential to sustain them.

• Treatments will improve the skin's tightness through radio frequency but is not indicated for excessive loose skin. Stretch marks may improve, but not always.
